Joana Lumley who is an English actress and proud daughter of retired Major General of British Army raised £33 million in U.K within few days.
Her campaign for raising funds for the earthquake victims of Nepal gained a huge popularity among the people of U.K, She was able to collect £19 Million in the very first day.
£19 Million is roughly equivalent to NRs.4,00,00,00,000 or NRs.4 Arab which is by far the biggest amount raised by an individual for the victims of Nepal earthquake.
She told "It's quite a feat that we collected £19 Million in the first day and £33 Million within few days. I'm proud of my country and very much eager to help Nepal."
She was born in Srinagar, India where her father James Rutherford Lumley was a Major General in 6th Gurkha Rifles. She also has been actively involved in raising the voice against the inequalities faced by ex-Gurkha men in the British Army. She has been campaigning for equal rights and equal pensions for the ex-Gurkha men.
