Rice distributed to earthquake victims by WFP and Red Cross in earthquake hit regions of Kavre and Gorkha are found to be damaged and inedible.
National Human Rights Commission found out the damaged rice sacks whose consumable date were over during an inspection to those areas. The commission has also warned the two international organizations not to distribute the date expired and damaged rice among the earthquake hit areas.
The rice when washed with water would pass black color and also contained rat's wastes. Doctors have warned not to consume the inedible rice since it can cause diarrhea and vomiting.
Locals said that among 100 sacks of rice 60 rice sacks have been already distributed.
